Truman Library, this collection gives students of political history a chance to do more than simply read what scholars and historians have thought about the Trum...n era. The files consist of 59 copies of letters, memoranda, reports, and other frequently requested and widely cited materials. The documents trace the origins and implementation of the European Recovery Program, or Marshall Plan. They illustrate the thinking of Truman administration officials as they struggled to understand the interconnectedness of the postwar world and devised innovative ways to manage it, and demonstrate how white house powers were used to persuade the American people and Congress to undertake the costly program.
