| 概要 | An overview of recent developments in the field of metal ions in fungi. Special emphasis is given to mechanisms by which the cellular concentration of metal ions is regulated. Metal ion transport and ...ntracellular metal ion sequestration are two prominent mechanisms discussed. In addition, the catalytic and/or structural role of metal ions as prosthetic groups in fungal enzymes is presented. The focus is on certain essential metal ions, such as iron, copper, zinc, and manganese. Other important metal ions like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium, mainly involved in electrophysiological and signal-transducing cellular functions, are not considered.
