| 概要 | Shows the distribution of various diseases in specific parts of the world through a series of related maps and diagrams, and employs a range of approaches to the mapping and statistical analysis of me...ical data. Both static cross-sections and time-based maps are used, and the authors advance a basis for critically evaluating the effectiveness of maps in medical literature. This is the first work of its kind to present a spatial analysis of the spread of AIDS in an epidemiological context. The demise of smallpox and the spread and control of many other significant diseases including measles are also charted, as are radiation hazards such as the fallout from the Chernobyl disaster. Each entry gives technical details of the relevant disease, a summary of and commentary on the method employed for mapping and analysis, maps and tables, a guide to further reading and other epidemiological applications. The horizontal format with binding at the top is cumbersome at best--loathsome is more accurate. Neither the figures nor the text demand this peculiar design. 121/4x9".
