概要 Art on the Line is a collection of essays by writers and artists speaking about the point where their social commitment and their art intersect. These essays illuminate the aesthetics of "engaged art,... and include work by artists from Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the United States. These socially-engaged artists write about art that moves people to action as well as pleasure, writing about the function of the arts, in the tradition of artists like Bertolt Brecht, Kathe Kollwitz, and Richard Wright. Art on the Line presents essays and interviews from: Arturo Arias, Etel Adnan/Csaba Polony, Amiri Baraka, Miranda Bergman, Ferruccio Brugnaro, Ernesto Cardenal, Roque Dalton, Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, Elizam Escobar, Martin Espada, George Grosz/John Heartfield/Wieland Herzfelde, Paul Laraque, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Margaret Randall, Luis J. Rodriguez, Jorge Sanjines, James Scully, Susan Sherman/Kimiko Hahn/Gale Jackson, Carol Tarlen, Ngugi wa Thiong'o, and Cesar Vallejo. This edition grew out of the "Art on the Line" series of essays published during the early 1980s. Book jacket.続きを見る
