| 概要 | Talman (physics, Cornell U.) continues his project of making mechanics accessible to non-mathematicians by approaching the subject with geometric methods including differential geometry, differential ...orms and tensor analysis in ways likely to excite specialists as well as non-specialists. In this edition, which he has expanded to further emphasize his geometric approach, Talman builds toward a limited unification of classical physics that supports the grand unification program of quantum field theory. He covers classical mechanics and string field theory, the geometry of physics (linear, curvilinear and multilinear), the Lagrange-Poincare description of mechanics, Newton/Gauge invariant mechanics, Hamiltonian geometric optics, Hamilton-Jacobi theory, relativistic mechanics, conservation laws and symmetry. Electromagnetic theory, relativistic stings, general relativity, analytic bases for approximation. Linear Hamiltonian systems, perturbation theory, and simplectic mechanics.
