Abstract The purpose of this report is to analyze the attitude of the male student nurses who received the introduction in 1996 at the maternal, obstetrics, and gynecology wards. The details of their training ...were fully discussed in advance by the teaching stuffs and the written informed consent was obtained from each assigned patent. Four male student nurses participated and as a rule, they were paired with female student nurses throughout the training course. In their written reports, they said as follows: they felt that they were welcomed and treated properly by the ward stuffs, and they were able to take good care of the new - born babies with confedence. They found, however, some difficulty in taking direct nursing care of mothers mainly due to the concern about private matters. To establish the ideal clnical training program for the male student nurses, the teaching stuffs as well as have to prepare thoughtfully and carefully.show more
