| 概要 | As the idea of "Information Design" has been strongly connected to "Information Technology" in the narrow sense in Japanese, its practice tends to be limited to a small field related to digital techno...logy. This situation seems to hinder the further application of Information Design in various fields. This study is based on research, which was originally carried out as part of the editorial process of the "Information Design Source Book" published in October 2003. The purpose of this research was to survey and illustrate the current situation regarding worldwide Information Design practice by collecting projects of high quality. Besides searching for projects and works of Information Design in magazines, on the Internet, personal designers' networks and so on, we set up a website to call for entries, so that everyone could access our information easily and submit their projects at the website from anywhere in the world. From the more than 230 projects received we selected 67 to include in our book. We grouped the 67 projects in the following five categories in order to analyze them: "Corporate Communication", "Products/Services", "Signage/ Directions", "Methods/Tools", "Education/Research/ Science". Through this categorization, it was found out that wide stretches of territory still remain uncultivated, such as in the areas of Information Design in healthcare, social services, communications of governments and municipalities, and knowledge management and support systems for decision-making in private companies. It was also realized that there are still few projects which fulfill the needs of systematic development and integrated process in the wider context. By the year 2015 Japan will become one of the most advanced aging societies in the world. Working on the above mentioned uncultivated territory of Information Design might offer some ideas for the creation of a productive and comfortable aging society.続きを見る |
