| 概要 | Japanese is a language which is used differently by males and females. In Nihon Kokugo Daijiten (1980), he final particle is categorized as one of the elements which reflect gender difference, and has... been studied as an attitudinal expression that reflects gender difference at the end of speakers’ utterance in previous research. However, the final particle“ kedo” which is frequently used at the end of sentences is rarely studied. Therefore, this research examines the natural conversation corpus of native Japanese speakers, and classifies the discourse function of "kedo" as "information provision" and "information request". In addition, this research also investigates the practical uses of“ kedo” through the analysis of its discourse functions and contextual features. It has been found that male speakers use significantly more finite particles than female speakers, who tend to use more connective particles. Furthermore, it has also been found that there is a difference between males and females in terms of selecting “kedo” when stating opinions and thoughts, and inviting the listeners to identify with the speakers’ opinions.続きを見る |
