概要: Desertification has rapidly progressed in arid areas of Asia. Various practices aimed at combating desertification have been tried and cintinue to be used, basic information on wild bees which pollinate plants in dsert and semi-desert areas in insufficient. Wild bees are very important insects for the pollination of semi-desert plants. We conduced five surveys in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and northwestern China from 2000 to 2004. We collected about 30,000 bee specimens and studied the taxonomy and biogeography of these wild bees. We found some useful pollinating wild bee species and studied the nesting biology of these bees in the field. 続きを見る

概要: The subgenus Hoplandrena of the genus Andrena of eastern Asia is revised, and 11 species are recorded. Three new species, Andrena (Homplandrena) xiyuensis, A. (H.) tibetica, A. (H.) fagopyri are described from China. Andrena (Hoplandrena) rosae alfkeni is recoeded from China for the first time. A. (Hoplandrena) pruniphora Hirashima is synonymized with Andrena (Chlorandrena) mudigastra nudigastroides Yasumatsu, which is raised to Andrena (Hoplandrena) nudigastroides. 概要: Additions to the Indosian Balcutha fauna were made after, the following two species and one species complex wer newly recorded for Indonesia: B. noonadana, B. rubrinervis, and the B. sternalis complex. Balclutha cheesmanae, whose type localities are Java and Oaoua New Guinea, was recorded from Sulawesi for the first time. Although no Balclutha species had been known from the Krakataus, B. lucida was newly recorded for Anak Krakatau. Since a species similar to B. lucida can migrate long distances, B. lucida may also have migrated to this island. Though three are three islands in the Krakatus, B. lucida was found only on the youngest island. The host grasses of this species were abundant on the Anak Krakatau, the youngest island, but they are not abundanton the other islands. An establishment of this species on Anak Krakatau is related to floral succession and this Balclutha species may face ectinction if floral succession progresses on this island. 続きを見る

概要: The tride Acalyptini is redefined, distiguished from the tribe Derelomoni and placed in the subfamily Curculioninae. Most genera classified in Derelomini from Asia are transferred to Acalyptini: Derelomorphus Marshall, Endela Oascoe, Eudelodes Zimmerman, Meredolus Marshall, Nodocnemus Marshall and Tithene Oascoe. Thus, at least in the Malesia (Malay Peninsula to New Guinea), Pacific islands and also Australia, weevils associated with the flowers of palms belong not to Derelomini but ti Acalyptini except for introduced species. The genera Orsophagus Roelofs and Imera Pascoe, which were synonymized with Acalyptus Schoenherr and Amorphoidea Motschulsky, respectivery, are resurrected to the status of full genera. All the genera classified in Acalyptini are briefly reviewed and a key to them in provied. Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese species are treated taxonomically, and a total of 5 genera and 7 species are recognized including the following nre species: Orsophagus subfasciatus [Japan, Taiwan and Thailand], Parimera flava [Japan], P. subflava [Taiwan] and Imera formosana [Taiwan]. Amorphoidea gososyppi (Pierce) known from the philippines is synonymous with A. lata, one of the famous pests of cotton in the Philippines. 概要: The genus Ceutorhynchoides Colonnelli (Ceutorhynchini, Ceutorhynchinae) is recorded for the first time from Japan, with descriptions of two new species: C. squamatus sp. noc. (Ryukyus) and C. styracis sp. nov. (Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu). In addition, Hainokisaruzo gen. nov.., which is related to Ceutorhynchoides, is established for three Japanese species : H. japonicus sp. nov. (type species; Honshu and Kyushu), H. nipponensis (Hustache), comb. nov. (Honshu and Kyushu), and H. infuscatus sp. nov. (Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Ryukyus). Based on morphological reason, Ceutorhynchoides bengalensis Colonnelli, C. notatus Collonnelli, C. topali Colonnelli, C. subcostulatus (Hustache), and C. sinensis Korotyaev from the Oriental Region are transferred to Hainolosaruzo (comb. nov.). as key to species, habitus photographs, and illustrations and SEM photographs of important characters are provided for the Japanese species of both genera. The following host association records are aolso given in this paper: Ceutorhynchoides styracis with styrax japonica Siebold et Zuccarini (Stracaceae), Hainokisarzi japonicus with Symplocos glauca (Thunberg) Koidzumi (Symplocaceae), and H. nipponensis with Symplocoschinensis (Loureiro) Druce (Symplocaceae). 続きを見る

概要: A new species of the genus Augustinus Korotyaev, 1981 (Cnemogonini, Ceutorhynchinae) is described. Five Japanese species including the new species are studied taxonomically and classfield into the following threespecies groups: the longipes-group contains Augustinus longipes (Korotyaev, 1981) and A. coes sp. nov., and is characterized mainly by the sinuate and hind tibiae, and the ventrally prominene netasternal receptacle; the bouvieri-group consisting of Augustinus bouvieri (Hustache, 1916) and A. similis (Chujo, 1959) is similaar to the longipes-group in faving the robust rostrum with a median slit and the smooth prominences on the pronotum, but differs from it in having the clavate and dentate mid femora, the smooth internal margins of the mida and hind tibiae, and the flat metasternum; thw sasakii-group consists of A. sasakii (Chujo, 1959) and is cleary different from the other two groups in possessing the slenderer rostrum with a median ridge and the denticulate prominences in the pronotum. 概要: Twenty-four dacine fruit fly species were recorded in a lure trapping aurvey in Sri Lanka. The number of species attracted by a cue lure (CL) or methy eugenol (ME), and those that didn't respond to either but were recorded in a fruit collection survey, were 17, 7, and 6, respectively. These records and the distribution of responsiveness among dacine fruit flies of Sri Lanka according to the existung classification were investigated. The results showed that those that responded to ME were distributed in only one genus, Bactrocera (Bactrocera), while those that responded to CL were distributed widely across different genera and subgenera: Bactrocera (subgenera Afrodacus, Bactrocera, Zeugodacus, Javadacus, and Parazeugodacus), and Dacus (Callantra). The results were consistent with the general tendency of responsiveness among Dacini. The ratio of species that responded to CL and those that responded to ME was about 2.4: 1. 続きを見る
