The objective of this study is to investigate the characteristics of aquatic animals, especially fishes in the irrigation and drainage channels, during paddy rice growing The effectiveness of settling three types of small-scale fishways, in the irrigation channels during irrigation season were studied respect to the easiness of fishes migration. The high migration efficiency of freshwater minnow (Zacco platypus) and other target fishes were obtained. It was concluded that the three types of fish ways were effective on recovering the ecological corridor in the irrigation channel networks. Additionally, the farmers accepted friendly these three types of fishways, as the small-scale fish ways did not impede rice paddy water management. From the results obtained, it will be expected in the future fish ways will be controlled by the farmer's participation for preserving aquatic environment in the irrigation channel networks.
