For the purpose of study on the relation between the races of Cryptomeria japonica and their root-formation in the cuttings, the races : Measa, Kurojin, Misugi, Ayasugi and Yabukuguri were used as experimental materials. The results are as follows ; (1) The differences of root-formation were remakable and were about 42-92 % among the races mentioned above. (2) Comparing the rates of the rooting and the field run stock, Ayasugi shown the heighest in all races. While Yabukuguri was comparatively high in rate of the rooting but low in rate of the field run stock, in the case of Measa the reversed results were seen in both respects. (3) Relation between root and callus formation usually shown reversed results. (4) Survival rate was above 95 % in all of races used.
