A lot of the rural and suburban areas in Japan are confronted with the severe problems of worsened landscape and environment caused by the increasing urban developments and sprawl. It is needed to ado...pt the effective land use control for preservation of natural and historical landscape. In this context, the study focuses on rural road landscapes, and aims to identify the characteristics by analyzing the composing landscape elements, and to propose the useful methods and tools for planning and design based on the overview of previous studies. As results, we specified eight characteristics to compose the rural road landscape, and figure out the systematic use of tools for prediction, analysis and evaluation which can be applicable for rural road landscape planning and design process.続きを見る
