枝打方法の違いが,樹幹各部の生長および林分生長におよぼす影響を明らかにし,あわせて枝打と心材形成との関係を調べるため,1951年に植えた15年生のスギ(アヤスギ,実生スギ)林とヒノキ林に対し,1965年3月に枝打試験地を設定した。枝打方法としては,これまで九州地方で試みたことのない北山式枝打を中心にし,これを普通枝打区および対照区と対比し,定期的に測定することにした。試験の成果は将来に期待するほか...ないが,試験地設定時の測定結果は第1表のとおりである。
For the purpose of clarifying the influences of the method of pruning on the growth of the stem and the formation of the heartwood, the authors established pruning test areas in March 1965 in the 15-year old SUGI (Crypto-meria japonica D. Don) and HINOKI (Chamaecyparis obtusa S. et. Z.) forests planted in March 1951. The test areas were composed of stands of three tree species, AYASUGI (Cryptomeria japonica afforestation by cutting), MISHOSUGI (Cryptomeria japonica afforestation by seedling) and HINOKI (Chamaecyparis obtusa) respectively, and each area was divided into the Kitayama type pruning plot, the ordinary pruning plot and the control plot.
