This paper is an outline of the results of the first nationwide opinion survey conducted to determine the degree of acceptance of foreign nurses in Japan’s hospitals. A total of 541 questionnaires (34....1% of an research subjects) were returned to Kyushu University Asia Center by the end of February 2008. More than 80% of all respondents answered that they were a little or very interested in accepting foreign nurses into Japan. 37.6% of them were interested in accepting nursing trainees whereas 46.2% of them were interested in accepting nurses in their hospitals. The results suggest that most of hospitals may not have enough time and manpower required for training foreign nurses whose nursing and/or communication skills are not yet known to Japanese hospitals. 33.6% of them answered "no idea" for acceptance of foreign nurses most probably due to the lack of information provided by the Japanese government.
日本の病院における外国人看護師の受け入れに関する意識を明らかにするため､全国300床以上の全ての病院を対象とした初の質問票調査を行った｡その結果､全体の34.1％にあたる541病院から回答が得られた｡このうち83.0％の病院が外国人看護師導入に関心があると回答し､関心の高さがうかがえた｡回答した病院の37.7％が｢研修生を受け入れたい｣と回答したのに対し､看護師については46.1％が｢採用したい｣と回答した｡採用したい理由として｢看護師不足｣を挙げた病院が最も多かったが､｢国際交流の一環として協力したい｣｢院内の人間関係を活性化させたい｣と回答した病院も少なくなかった｡採用したくない理由としては､彼女(彼) らへのサポートが大変なこと､日本語能力や患者・家族の受けとめ方を不安視する意見が多かった｡外国人看護師の受け入れに関して､33.6％の病院が｢よくわからない｣と回答しており､日本政府から提供される情報量が少ないために二の足を踏んでいる実情がうかがえた｡続きを見る
