| 概要 | The editor's preface begins with some acronym decoding: "The World Trade Organization WTO) has become, with the adoption of TRIPS (Trade-related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights) Agreement, the...principal standard-setting organization in the area of intellectual property rights (IPRs)." Correa goes on to say that there's been plenty of academic work and analyses by international organizations regarding various aspects of the Agreement, but this handbook aims to fill some gaps regarding fundamental issues and the impact of the provisions. It is not intended as a textbook--although it could be useful for advanced students and policy-makers--but rather as a "source of high quality original reference material for research, teaching and professional practice on WTO-related issues concerning intellectual property protection." Twenty-one chapters address the history of the Agreement and its principles and objectives as well as "substantive obligations assumed by WTO Members in specific areas" with regard to copyright, medicines, trademarks, patents, and integrated circuits. This is the first of two volumes on the subject; v.2, the companion, is a slimmer book with contributions pertaining to interpretation and enforcement.
