| 概要 | The text of the 1985 edition reproduced here includes an introduction and chapters on the inscriptions, commentary, the story told in the "tapestry" of William's conquest of England in 1066, the style...and artistic aspects of the embroidery, and a discussion of the buildings and dress depicted. The unquestionable merit of this volume rests not in these fine essays, however, but in the exquisite quality of the color reproduction of the entire embroidery (it's 230 feet long), which was photographed in natural light and is reproduced in slightly over half its actual size.
