| 概要 | Examines issues of microclimatology and boundary-layer physics related to small-scale climate variability around and inside buildings, monuments, and other cultural artifacts. The bulk of the volume ...onsists of a treatise on applied microphysics, including a survey on the basic ideas of classical, kinetic, and statistical thermodynamics necessary for environmental diagnostics and conservation, with discussions of the effects of temperature, air masses and vertical motion, radiation and light, drop formation, micropore condensation, atmospheric water and stone weathering, and airborne particulate matter. The second section of the book details the practical utilization of this knowledge and shows how measurements should be performed, with examples and indications of common errors to be avoided. Examples include both outside studies of monuments such as the pyramids and the Sphinx and inside cases including a temperature study of cross sections of the Sistine Chapel.
