Abstract In this thesis, it has aimed to clarify the royal prerogative of the bakuhan system nation 幕藩制国家 through the analysis of the conferment of a rank and the growing up etiquette of the Tokugawa Shogun's ...family of 1741. As a result, the obtained conclusion is as follows. when the letter of appointment and the present from the Emperor are received, the Shogun accepted gratefully(choudai 頂戴). moreover, The Emperor Sakuramati 桜町天皇 ordered the 8th Shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune 徳川吉宗 his grandchild’s growing up(gennpuku 元服), and Shogun Yoshimune said the reward to the emperor for this order. These facts show that the sovereign and subject relation that made the Emperor a lord and made the Shogun a vassal existed. The growing up etiquette was composed of the etiquette between the emperor and the etiquette of Tokugawa Shogun’s family home part. In the etiquette of Tokugawa Shogun’s family home part, Tokugawa Yoshimune ordered his grandchild’s growing up, too. And the conferment of a rank etiquette of Tokugawa Shogun was done as not the etiquette of the shogunate but etiquette of the emperor court. These exposes that Tokugawa family had left the character of the influential family(権門 kennmonn) since the Middle Ages.show more
