Abstract |
The atmosphere is just the incompressible fluid occupying a thin layer around the earth. It is known that the equations describing its motion are the threedimensional (3D) incompressible Navier-Stokes... equations in thin spherical shells and the validity of the two-dimensional (2D) approximation of flows in thin spherical layers is proved. In this paper, we consider the 3D Boussinesq equations in thin spherical domains and prove the convergence of the average of weak solutions of the 3D Boussinesq equations to a 2D problem.show more
