| Abstract | Pottier (ohysics, Universte Paris Diderot) draws upon her years of graduate teaching for this study of linear irreversible processes within non equilibrium statistical physics. Unlike equilibrium, the...parallels from the micro to the macro are varied and need specific methods. She divides these into two groups using in one, kinetic equations and the other, linear response theory. The subjects include the thermodynamics of irreversible processes, an introduction to this branch of physics, kinetic approaches, Brownian motion, linear response theory and transport coefficients. Each chapter is further divided by various problems and the mathematical proofs are stated clearly.
