| Abstract | Fifteen articles are presented by Bak (mathematics, U. of Bielefield, Germany), Morimoto (environmental and mathematical sciences, Okayama U., Japan), and Ushitaki (mathematics, Kyoto Sangyo U., Japan... as an overview of topics in the theory of transformation groups from the past few decades. Major topics include the structural role of algebraic and combinatorial notions in equivariant problems, problems arising from homeomorphism and diffeomorphism groups in spheres, the fixed point set problem for smooth manifolds, and the application the Browder-Sullivan-Wall surgery exact sequence to classifying homotopy spheres and smooth actions of cyclic groups on them.
