Eight chapters are organized in sections on planning information systems and services, basic techniques and technologies, and applications. An introduction to each sections highlights trends and events related to specific chapter topics. Each chapter is accompanied by a lengthy bibliography, in a format based on the American National Standard for Bibliographic References, ANS Z39.29.
